Hatch Bailey

Funeral Director in Charge
photo

The Wilkirson, Hatch, and Bailey families have been serving Waco for over 80 years. Hatch Bailey represents the fourth generation of this proud tradition as the funeral director in charge, co-owner, and president of W-H-B. He and his wife, Yvonne, met while they were attending Baylor University, and had four sons together before she passed away in 2007. Within the next five years, Hatch lost both his parents within a year of each other and raised his boys on his own. Hatch understands loss on a level that many cannot, and wants to use his experience to help those experiencing their own grief. In addition to his official duties at W-H-B, Hatch is the grief coach for the funeral home’s Hand-In-Hand program.

Hatch was born and raised in Waco and graduated Vanguard College Preparatory School, Baylor University, and Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. He began working for W-H-B in 1979, began his full-time career in 1982, and later became president of the funeral home his great-great grandfather began in 1925.

Waco is his home, and it’s a community he loves very much as evidenced by the multiple charities and organizations he’s lent himself to. Following in the steps of his father and grandfather, Hatch currently serves as a deacon at The First Baptist Church of Waco.

Brooklin Bailey

Director of Advanced Planning
photo

Brooklin is a fifth generation member of the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey family, and he is currently serving WHB as director of advanced planning. He completed training by PreNeed Company of America (PRECOA).

Growing up around WHB, he saw families grieve in the most difficult of times.  Brooklin saw first-hand how his dad, Hatch Bailey, was able to serve them. When Brooklin was barely 13, he lost his mom, followed by his grandmother two months later, both from cancer.

It was then that he realized the importance of helping others in their time of need. Today one of his goals is to educate folks who live in the greater Waco-area on the many benefits of planning well in advance. He believes families should spend their time grieving with family and friends rather than be concerned with all the selections necessary for the funeral.

Brooklin was a camper at Kanakuk Kamps during his formative years.  It led him to Link Year, a post-high school program which extends Kanakuk's mission statement: Developing dynamic Christian leaders through life-changing experiences, Godly relationships, and spiritual training.

At the age of 18, Brooklin’s golf prowess took him to new heights. He settled in Dallas where, as a professional golfer, he worked with his coach as he pursued a career as a professional golfer. In 2017 he returned to Waco to serve families at WHB. With his family's blessing and encouragement, he balances service to families with a (golf) tour schedule of 10-12 tournaments per year.
